What does speeding really do? It decreases your field of vision! It decreases your stopping time! It may even give you stress! Speeding is also a major contributor to intersection accidents, which account for about one-third of motor vehicle accidents.

    Did you know that, aside from these hazards, speeding is hardly worth your time? The National Traffic Safety Institute (NTSI) put together the following numbers showing how little time can be saved by speeding:

To travel a distance of 5 miles:

At 70 mph, it takes 4 minutes, 17 seconds Savings over 60 mph is 43 seconds
At 60 mph, it takes 5 minutes
  
Savings over 55 mph is 27 seconds
At 55 mph, it takes 5 minutes, 27 seconds

To travel a distance of 10 miles:

At 70 mph, it takes 8 minutes, 34 seconds Savings over 60 mph is 1 minute, 26 seconds
At 60 mph, it takes 10 minutes
 
Savings over 55 mph is 55 seconds
At 55 mph, it takes 10 minutes, 55 seconds

To travel a distance of 15 miles:

At 70 mph, it takes 12 minutes, 51 seconds Savings over 60 mph is 2 minutes, 9 seconds
At 60 mph, it takes 15minutes
