NICB
reported that the ten most commonly stolen vehicles in
the United States in 1999 were:
- Honda
Accord
- Toyota Camry
- Oldsmobile Cutlass
- Chevrolet Full-Size
Pickup
- Honda Civic
- Toyota Corolla
- Jeep Cherokee
- Chevrolet Caprice

Thieves continue to
find sport utility vehicles (SUVs), pickup trucks,
and mini-vans attractive targets.
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB),
every 23 seconds a vehicle is stolen in the United
States. One-third of those vehicles are
never recovered. Each year the NICB
researches the top ten vehicles most likely to be
stolen. The top ten list is based on
information received from member insurance
companies and represents 33% of all automobiles
reported stolen nationwide. |
